Responsible Flying - Safety Tips

Do not fly so as to create a hazard to other (Manned & Unmanned) aircraft


Do not fly near or above clouds 

Be vigilant of helicopters and crop dusters
Descend or land when you encounter approaching manned aircraft.

Maintain safe distance from persons, vehicles, structures, and buildings


Never fly directly overhead individual persons or open assembly of people without proper safety barrier and authorization

Do not fly over public events or residential communities without proper credentials, preparations, and authorizations.

Do not fly with inoperable GPS or Autopilot System

Get permission to fly over private property

Ensure Takeoff & Landing area is free from obstacles, buildings, power lines and pilot is able to keep visual line of sight at all times

Always anticipate power or control failure so as to ensure flight terminates into the safe zone

Know how to handle basic abnormal procedures such as;

  • Loss of TX/RX control link

  • Loss of GPS Navigation

  • Loss of Telemetry

  • When to activate fail safe RTL

Utilize Geo-fencing if available to prevent run away aircraft

Notify Airport Manager or ATC facility (NOTAM) when flying within 5nm of public airport

Avoid capturing images or sounds of personal or family activities on or near private property that would be considered offensive by any member of the community at large.


Verify local and state regulations related to privacy, trespass, civil & criminal penalties for such violations.

Do not drop objects or projectiles from your UAS

Do not fly at night without an FAA approved anti-collision light








Always use a qualified spotter to help you maintain orientation, avoid other aircraft and obstacles, and maintain line of sight
